Title: MS-MAP and UV-MAP: Recent Advances in Automated Chromatographic Peak Tracking
Presented by: Mike McBrien

Abstract: With modern automation of chromatographic systems, and the considerable speed of UHPLC, there is a dizzying array of chromatographic method variability open to the method development chromatographer. Virtually any parameter in the separation can be varied through software alone, and a huge number of these parameters can be investigated in a single overnight run. However, it can be challenging to fully exploit this power. The considerable amount of data that is generated isn't practical to evaluate manually. ACD/AutoChrom MS or UV interfaces with ChemStation or Empower 2 to form a method development platform designed for streamlined chromatographic method development. In addition to configuring full injection sequences in accord with modern method development principles, AutoChrom uses MS and/or UV data to track peaks from run to run. With minimal user intervention, the MS-MAP and UV-MAP algorithms in AutoChrom can track most components across each run, and then move elution data to modeling tools to design subsequent experiments. This presentation will discuss recent enhancements to both UV- and MS-based tracking systems, and highlight some of the strengths and limitations of the tools.
