Application Scientist

Location: Bangalore, India

Role Profile: As a key member of the International Application Scientist Team and business team in Bangalore, you will provide support to the company's team members and customers in the Asia Pacific Region including major markets like India, China, South Korea, Australia, Israel, Taiwan, Singapore, etc., onsite & offsite; by creating and demonstrating software solutions utilizing the available company tools and extensible capabilities to address specific critical business issues within the company's clients' scientific workflows. You will be engaged in the installation of software deployments during presales, evaluations, and post sales rollout as well as follow-up technical support.

Duties will include diagnosing technical problems, providing concise explanations in a clear professional language, and providing solutions in a timely manner. Participation in marketing activities such as trade shows, conferences, as well as internal and external training involving national and, where appropriate, international travel is required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Chemistry
  • Proficiency in the acquisition and interpretation of data acquired from modern analytical instrumentation, such as NMR, MS, UV/IR, HPLC, LC and GC
  • Familiarity with one or more operating systems including Windows®, Linux, and SUN Solaris is an asset
  • Familiarity with Java scripting, Oracle, Visual Basic/Pascal programming, and software installation is an asset
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Application Scientist/Technical Specialist (LC/MS)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Company Profile: The Company is a market leader in innovative software packages that aid chemical research scientists with spectroscopic validation of structures, elucidation of unknown substances, chromatographic separation, medicinal chemistry, preformulation of novel drug agents, systematic nomenclature generation, and chemical patenting and publication.

Role Profile: The Technical Specialist will work closely with Product Managers to research market applications, help users solve technical problems, and promote the company's products. The Technical Specialist will be involved in researching the requirements of different markets for the company's new and existing products, defining a product marketing strategy, and taking the new product to the market.

Highly scientific by nature, the work will involve scientific writing, public speaking, marketing research, team-based creation of marketing collateral, as well as hands-on use of the company's products to aid company staff of sales and support professionals, as well as customers. As such, it is essential that this individual be prepared to take on significant responsibility, work without supervision, and perform effectively as a member of a team.

Public speaking skills are a must as is the willingness to travel. Expert working knowledge of Mass Spectrometry and Chromatography techniques is a must, and any of the following additional areas of expertise and experience would be beneficial: experience in pharmaceutical R&D environment, drug discovery research, analytical chemistry, structural elucidation, data management, and project management.

Excellent communication skills and proven self-organization capacity will be differentiating factors among candidates.

  • Minimum of a Masters degree in Chemistry, or equivalent experience
  • International travel, as required

Professional Services Support Specialist

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Company Profile: The Company is a market leader in innovative software packages that aid chemical research scientists with spectroscopic validation of structures, elucidation of unknown substances, chromatographic separation, medicinal chemistry, preformulation of novel drug agents, systematic nomenclature generation, and chemical patenting and publication.

Role Profile: As a key member of the International Professional Services Team, you will provide support to company team members and customers in North America. You will be supporting licensing, installation and deployment of company software and database solutions using available company utilities and third-party tools where appropriate. Specific emphasis is on Microsoft Windows® client and server platforms, Oracle® databases, Citrix Presentation Server, and VMware. You should also have some experience of systems analysis and programming in C, C++, or C#.

Duties include providing remote and on-site assistance to customers in the production and execution of installation and deployment options and activities during company software trials, implementations, and upgrades, and the adoption and implementation of company licensing schemes as well as diagnosing technical problems. International travel will be required from time to time.

As the role progresses, you will be assisting with analysis, documentation, scripting, and project management of customer solutions.

Requirements: A successful candidate will ideally be educated to Degree level (or higher) in an IT related subject and should have more than 5 years industrial experience, preferably obtained within a software support and data centre environment. The candidate should be MCSA qualified and familiar with the installation and support of Microsoft Windows NT 4 and above desktop and server, Citrix, VMware, and Oracle; some UNIX would be advantageous. The candidate should also have a good understanding of administrative and procedural processes for application management and deployment issues in global companies. The candidate should have knowledge of procedures and software that are regulated by government controls. The candidate should have previously worked in a project support role.

Experience working in the chemical or pharmaceutical industries is desirable. Prior knowledge and experience of company software solutions would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who enjoys and excels at problem solving, and demonstrates good interpersonal skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Minimum of MCSA; MCSE preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows desktop and server support and administration
  • Familiarity with Oracle or other relational database systems
  • Familiarity with one or more other operating systems including SUN Solaris, HP-UX
  • Familiarity with Windows scripting and/or Visual Basic, C, C++, C#, or similar programming environment
  • 20% travel
