The traditional names obtained on the basis of Rule A-21.4 and Rule A-23.5 of IUPAC Nomenclature of Organic Chemistry , "6,7-Dihydro-5H-benzocycloheptene" and "Benzocyclohepta-1,3-diene", could lead to ambiguity. They are no longer encouraged. For an explanation of the use "annulene" as the base component in these names, see section R-2.4.1.1.
