Unified Laboratory Intelligence & Decision Support

Learn more about ULIRyan Sasaki (Director of Global Strategy, ACD/Labs) and Bruce Pharr (Science and Technology Marketing Consultant) have authored a new white paper on Unified Laboratory Intelligence (ULI)—a technology framework to collect and unify chemical, structural, and analytical data that enables scientists to search, retrieve, and reapply 'live' data throughout the research and development process. As a result, scientists can make better decisions about chemical identification, characterization, and optimization; accelerate development; and reduce cost.

As part of a corporate R&D strategy, ULI can improve overall scientific productivity and substantially increase returns in life science (pharmaceutical, agrochemical, food and beverage, and personal care products), chemical, energy, consumer, industrial, and technology industries.

ACD/Spectrus DB Release Completes ACD/Labs—Next Generation Cheminformatics Platform

At PITTCON last month, we announced the commercial release of ACD/Spectrus DB, the third and final component of the new ACD/Spectrus Platform. This powerful and unique database preserves and makes useable the vast chemical, spectroscopic, and chromatographic knowledge generated by today's laboratories.

Spectrus_DB

Tested in laboratories worldwide, Spectrus DB creates a collaborative project environment that does not stop at storing data for intellectual property rights preservation. It offers a searchable repository with access to the knowledge gained by individual scientists and groups, to benefit the whole organization for years to come. Spectrus DB completes the Spectrus integrated analytical and chemical knowledge management platform, fully embracing the concept of Unified Laboratory Intelligence. Learn more.

The search for bioactive compounds reaches new depths—The €9M PharmaSea project

PharmaSeaThe collaborative PharmaSea project will bring European researchers to some of the deepest, coldest, and hottest places on the planet. The project focuses on biodiscovery research and the development and commercialization of new bioactive compounds from marine organisms, including deep-sea sponges and bacteria, to evaluate their potential as novel drug leads or ingredients for nutrition or cosmetic applications.

Scientists from the UK, Belgium, Norway, Spain, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Denmark will work together to collect and screen samples of mud and sediment from huge, previously untapped, oceanic trenches. The large-scale, four-year project is backed by more than €9.5 million of EU funding and brings together 24 partners from 14 countries from industry, academia, and non-profit organizations. Advanced Chemistry Development UK, Ltd., is proud to be a contributing partner to this project.

PITTCON digest

PITTCON was a very exciting meeting for ACD/Labs this year with the release of ACD/Spectrus DB. ACD/Labs staff gave a number of presentations in various technical sessions, and MS product manager, Graham McGibbon, continued our tradition of running a workshop on Sunday afternoon. We were happy to connect with many customers, and meet face-to-face with instrument vendor partners, while also forging new relationships.

Upcoming Events

ACD/Labs NMR Software Symposium—April 14, Asilomar Conference Grounds (California)

At the 2013 Experimental NMR Conference we will host our annual NMR Software Symposium. We have a fantastic schedule lined up for this year, and hope that you can join us at this free event. This is your chance to see ACD/NMR Workbook in action, learn how scripting can streamline your workflow, and see the latest advances in automated structure verification and structure elucidation.

ACD/Labs Symposium on Laboratory Intelligence—June 19–20, Neuchâtel (Switzerland)

Building upon the legacy of our annual EUM, this year we are extending the invitation internationally for our inaugural Symposium on Laboratory Intelligence.

Attend the symposium to hear how ACD/Labs is impacting R&D; learn how leveraging live data can provide efficiency and productivity gains throughout your organization; and hear from industry thought leaders about the challenges of managing global operations.

Our preliminary agenda includes speakers from Eli Lilly (US), Merck (Germany), Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), and our hosts Philip Morris International (Switzerland), amongst many others.
