Welcome to the latest UV-IR newsletter from ACD/Labs. In this edition you’ll find the most recent updates to our software and our featured publications. Contents:
Capturing the Artistry of Spectral Interpretation Michael Boruta, Optical Spectroscopy Product Manager for ACD/Labs, has published a whitepaper and article on IR and Raman Spectroscopy, focusing on methods to capture the spectrum-to-structure correlations for Raman and infrared spectra. He discusses methods that can be used to obtain, archive, and retrieve this knowledge so that, once derived, it will remain a resource within the laboratory beyond the confines of individual analyst expertise. The aim of such a system is to not only capture the user’s own knowledge, but to combine it with the knowledge of colleagues to help the user make better decisions. As part of a corporate R&D strategy, ULI can improve overall scientific productivity and substantially increase returns in life science (pharmaceutical, agrochemical, food and beverage, and personal care products), chemical, energy, consumer, industrial, and technology industries. ACD/Spectrus DB Release Completes ACD/Labs’ Next Generation Cheminformatics Platform At PITTCON last month, we announced the commercial release of ACD/Spectrus DB, the third and final component of the new ACD/Spectrus Platform. This powerful and unique database preserves and makes useable the vast chemical, spectroscopic, and chromatographic knowledge generated by today’s laboratories.
Tested in laboratories worldwide, Spectrus DB creates a collaborative project environment that does not stop at storing data for intellectual property rights preservation. It offers a searchable repository with access to the knowledge gained by individual scientists and groups, to benefit the whole organization for years to come. Spectrus DB completes the Spectrus integrated analytical and chemical knowledge management platform, fully embracing the concept of Unified Laboratory Intelligence. The search for bioactive compounds reaches new depths—The €9M PharmaSea project
Scientists from the UK, Belgium, Norway, Spain, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Denmark will work together to collect and screen samples of mud and sediment from huge, previously untapped, oceanic trenches. The large-scale, four-year project is backed by more than €9.5 million of EU funding and brings together 24 partners from 14 countries from industry, academia, and non-profit organizations. Advanced Chemistry Development UK, Ltd., is proud to be a contributing partner to this project. For more information visit http://www.pharma-sea.eu. F. Hoffmann La-Roche deploys ACD/Spectrus Processor
ACD/Spectrus Processor is a unique multi-technique analytical data processer supporting data formats from most major instrument vendors, and serves as the primary tool in Roche's open access environment, speeding up the interpretation of NMR and MS analytical data and spectra from within a single intuitive interface. Furthermore Spectrus Processor provides assistance with routine chemical structure confirmation and sophisticated reporting in one click allowing for faster result generation. ACS Fall Analytica Latin America Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT) Recent Advances in Food Analysis (RAFA) Eastern Analytical Symposium (EAS) In January we launched our new website, with a new look and more efficient and cohesive navigation. All the existing information is preserved, but we’ve made it easier to learn about our core products and have highlighted our most exciting solutions. Take a few moments to have a look around!
