ChirBase™ Chiral Applications Databases for ACD/ChromManager
How can enantiomers of a novel compound be separated without a lot of trial and error?
Chiral method development is a challenge due to the number of available chiral stationary phases and complexities in the retention mechanism. Evaluating multiple columns and mobile phases is expensive in terms of time, materials, and effort.
For chiral chromatography, previous separations of similar compounds will provide clues to choosing a starting point for method development. In general, for similar molecules, there is a high probability that the same separation conditions will demonstrate similar separation factors. Structure similarity searches of a chiral applications database allows a chromatographer to quickly find a starting point for a chiral separation method.
ChirBase, ChirBase/GC, and ChirBase/CE for ACD/Labs are chiral applications databases which allow chromatographers to locate separation methods for similar compounds that have been studied before. The database(s) can be searched by structure, structure similarity, or substructure similarity.
