ACD/Name software includes the ACD/ChemSketch chemical drawing package that is renowned for its versatile chemical reporting, drawing, and importing capabilities. Users can choose to either draw their structures using an array of tools including pre-made chemical templates, or import the structures from any popular third-party application such as ChemDraw or ISIS Draw.
Since chemical names are frequently created for placement in reports, publications, and presentations, many chemists take advantage of the ACD/ChemSketch formatting tools, ranging from built-in journal templates for structures to the advanced text formatting options and poster layouts. ACD/ChemSketch reports can also be saved as Adobe PDF files, or copied and pasted into Microsoft Office applications, to be retrieved through a Structure Search at a later date. For more details on ACD/ChemSketch capabilities, please review the corresponding pages.
MDL SDfiles are also accepted. Up to 99 structures can be imported directly into the History window of the ACD/Name to generate chemical names for several molecules at a time. For larger files, ACD/Name Batch product is recommended.
All of the generated names with their structures are stored in a temporarily History file, that can be later exported in either ACD/Labs proprietary format or as an SDfile.
