ACD/Labs will use our powerful software to quickly and accurately name your compounds. Then, since we want nothing left to chance, our own ACD/Labs naming experts will review the systematic nomenclature to certify that the name is correct. Whether you have an organic, biochemical, or, in some cases, an organometallic structure, and whether you need IUPAC or CAS Index rule-based names, we will do our utmost to provide a systematic name. This service is also available for 'Name to Structure' requests.

How the chemical nomenclature service works

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3!

Step 1: Complete the Chemical Nomenclature Form, remembering to attach your structure(s) when submitting (we accept almost any file format: MDL molfiles, ChemDraw CHM and CDX, ISIS/Draw SKC, ISIS/Base DB, and ChemSketch SK2 files, as well as high quality graphical images). Remember, naming complex compounds isn't a problem for us, so send us your toughest structures! Once received, your compound(s) will be treated as confidential information. We are willing to enter into non-disclosure if necessary but there is a $200 fee for legal processing.

For a Name to Structure request, please provide the name in the comment box at the end of the form along with any other information you feel is necessary.

Step 2: We will reply shortly with several billing options. You will be free to choose whatever method is most convenient for you.

Step 3: Once the billing information is sorted out, we will send you the expert-certified chemical name/structure within four business days (depending on the complexity of the request), or contact you with additional questions if necessary.

What does it cost?

• The chemical nomenclature service costs $140 per hour with a minimum of 1 hour per name/structure.

Right to refuse

We maintain the right to refuse to name a compound or provide a structure for a name. This may happen from time-to-time since some classes of compounds may not yet have systematic nomenclature definitions available, and some names may be ambiguous. To preserve confidentiality in such a case, ACD/Labs will destroy any record we have of your structure/name.
