Solution Platforms for an Organization - for Analytical Informatics™
Mark Bayliss
Abstract
Organizations today are overwhelmed with a data load that has been said to be doubling every year. This continual increase in data generation is largely being driven by advances in the instrumental design in the fields of mass spectrometry and chromatography. This places an ever greater load on the spectrometrists who have to deal with this vast data output.
For the last decade, ACD/Labs has enabled spectrometrists across a wide range of industries to manage multiple vendor file formats within a single software interface. Additionally, ACD/Labs has provided expert data processing tools to transform those data into meaningful results. Often times, these results are applied to end to end de-novo structural elucidation, which may require a combination of spectroscopic techniques such as MS, chromatography, NMR and optical spectroscopy. With such a large assortment of data, it can be difficult to see the whole picture.
Whilst significant data is still reported in the form of hard copy reports, there is certainly an increasing trend in electronic laboratory notebooks and the general need for analytical data informatics solutions. These solutions enable the integration of different analytical information streams and facilitate automated processing, storage, searching and visualization of the results from the entire analytical process. This presentation will focus on providing an overview of the different solutions that ACD/Labs provides for processing, storing, searching, deploying and communicating analytical data within a department, or across an entire organization, including automated approaches.
