Simple Tools for SAR Management: ACD/Labs @ Ranbaxy
Sreedhara Rao Voleti
Abstract
Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, headquartered in India, is an integrated, research based, international pharmaceutical company producing a wide range of quality, affordable generic medicines, trusted by healthcare professionals and patients across geographies. Ranbaxy's continued focus on R&D has resulted in several approvals in developed markets and significant progress in New Drug Discovery Research. The Company's foray into Novel Drug Delivery Systems has led to proprietary "platform technologies", resulting in a number of products under development. The Company is serving its customers in over 125 countries and has an expanding international portfolio of affiliates, joint ventures and alliances, ground operations in 49 countries and manufacturing operations in 8 countries.
In NDDR, several computational modules for enhanced prediction of physiochemical properties and NMR predictive capabilities of the novel chemical entities (NCEs), and equally important SAR development and management tools such as ChemFolder have been used from ACD/Labs. All the chemical, biological, DMPK, and toxicological data generated for each chemical entity of the drug discovery projects defined under the therapeutic areas (antiinfectives, metabolic disorders, anti-inflammatory, urology, and oncology) use secure-protected ChemFolder databases to store, manage, retrieve, and elucidate in a server-client mode with additional layers of security built-in. The prime focus of the talk is to demonstrate how-we-did-it for the public interest.
