PhysChem Measurements—More Than Just a Number

Emily Freeman, UCB, Slough, UK

Abstract

This presentation will show that there is more to learn from our assays than just the number given in Spotfire. From a solubility and a lipophilicity assay you can get a handle on pKa and the stability of a compound. There will be an overview of the report provided to medicinal chemists by the PhysChem group at UCB, showing the PhysChem profile of compounds going through all the assays and the comments returned.

Emily studied undergraduate chemistry at Southampton University (2001-2005) and started at UCB the summer of 2005. She has been working in the Physical and Analytical Sciences group at UCB for two years where she has been running the PhysChem assays.
