New IUPAC Rules—Name Your Compounds Correctly

Chemistry is a rapidly developing discipline and chemical nomenclature rules cannot stand unchanged with the growing complexity of chemicals. In December 2013 the new Nomenclature of Organic Chemistry IUPAC Recommendations and Preferred Names was published. The most important change is the concept of "Preferred IUPAC Name" (PIN).

These recommendations, together with the introduction of the PIN concept, introduce several principle changes in naming procedures that will affect systematic names for many classes of organic structures. The importance of understanding nomenclature rules in addition to using software to generate a name will be discussed in this webinar. ACD/Name version 2015, to be released shortly, incorporates many of these new recommendations.
