LogP - Making Sense of the Value

Sanji Bhal

Abstract

The partition coefficient (P) describes solvation of a compound between two immiscible layers (oil and water). Although it has significant impact in many areas of research, it is sometimes difficult to understand what the value means. In this application note we discuss how this property can affect research in many different industries, and the significance behind the actual value.
