NMR Software for Chemists: Increase Productivity in Walk-up NMR Labs

Contact Us Now

Many organizations have made the switch to walk-up NMR instruments to provide easier access to NMR data for their chemists. However, with this switch the chemist's burden of waiting for results has been replaced with the processing, analysis, and interpretation of their own analytical data. This added workload can, in many cases, hinder the productivity of a chemist's day-to-day activities. ACD/Labs can help you by providing:

Software at your Desk In some environments, chemists will have to return to the instrument room to pick up a paper printout of their spectra. While they usually have access to the instrument's software, in larger groups they might be faced with a lineup preventing them from taking a closer look and performing some minor processing procedures.

ACD/Labs can provide an affordable, offline NMR processing and prediction solution that gives chemists easy access to their NMR data and an interpretation resource (for the challenging problems) right at their own desktop.

Assistance with Spectrum Interpretation Chemists will run 1H NMR experiments to confirm whether their reaction was successful and determine possible side-products created in their syntheses. Sometimes these routine experiments can lead to challenging spectral problems. For these situations, ACD/Labs' NMR prediction software can provide immediate feedback on the level of correspondence between a proposed structure and an experimental spectrum. Armed with this information, the chemist now has an increased level of confidence to either go along with their intuition, or question the outcome of their reaction. This allows the chemist to make faster, and more informed decisions about the relationship between a chemical structure and an NMR spectrum.

Time-saving Reporting Tools Traditionally, once structure confirmation by NMR was complete, a chemist would tape or glue a copy of their spectrum into their paper lab notebook. With the emergence of electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs) chemists now have the ability to link to electronic data files from their ELN, export spectrum reports as PDFs, or paste images of spectra into their ELN interface. ACD/Labs NMR software helps an organization support all these options in addition to providing a wealth of information about the spectrum in electronic form (i.e., experimental parameters, chemical structures, data tables, etc.).

A new ACD/Labs corporate package will make the same tools used by spectroscopists available to a broader group of scientists, including synthetic chemists, and account for the fact that these groups will only use part of the functionality at a fraction of the time compared to a power user. In addition, ACD/Labs continues to offer competitively priced site-wide licensing for academic institutions.
