Carboxylic Acids and their Derivatives
Lactones Lactides, Lactams, and Lactims Rule C-475 475.1 - Compounds containing a group -CO-NH- or -C(OH)=N- as part of a ring are preferably named as heterocyclic compounds in accordance
with the rules of Section B, but may also be named as described in Rule C-472.2 but with "-lactam'' or "-lactim'', respectively, in place of "-olide''.
Exception: The name -caprolactam may be used for the compound
Examples to Rule C-475.1
in place of 6-hexanelactam or hexahydro-2-azepinone.
