The Land of Informatics & Life Sciences: Bio-IT World 2017

May 18, 2017
by Graham Mcgibbon, Director, Strategic Partnerships, ACD/Labs

Celebrating its fifteenth anniversary, the 2017 Bio-IT World Conference & Expo will again be held at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, MA, from Tuesday, May 23rd through Thursday, May 25th. Expected to draw a crowd of over 3300 life sciences, pharmaceutical, clinical, and IT professionals, the show will highlight the latest informatics applications and technology that enable R&D and drug discovery initiatives, among others. The agenda is chock full of 200-plus scientific presentations within 13 session tracks. I’m most interested in hearing about trends around data (big data and small) within the various informatics-related tracks—though I have to admit I’m a bit biased. Throughout my >10 year long career at ACD/Labs we have been at the center of the topic of data standardization in the R&D space—specifically addressing analytical data and associated contextual information. We’ll be sharing more on our blog following the show to let you know what we’ve been up to!

LogoHowever, if you happen to be at Bio-IT World this year, be sure to stop by booth #423 to meet the ACD/Labs team and learn more about our solutions. We’ll be busy with a number of activities in addition to networking with our fellow peers. Here’s an overview of what our team has planned for the show and where you can find us:

  • Presentation (Wednesday, May 24th at 2:55 PM)—Attend my presentation titled “Key Software Interconnections between Data Sources and Decision Maker” within the software applications & services track. I’ll be presenting on the importance of assembling information and data effectively in order to make strategic decisions.
  • Luminata™—In March 2017, we introduced our new impurity profile information management solution at PITTCON called Luminata. Stop by our booth to learn more about how the solution empowers scientists in managing impurities and helps organizations establish effect impurity control strategies.
  • Poster—Drop by our poster, in the exhibition hall, to read about how the unique challenges of analytical data management can be addressed in the modern R&D environment.
  • Whitepaper—Hot off the press, we’ll be distributing hard copies of our latest whitepaper in booth #423. While I can’t share too much right now, the paper explores the concept of analytical data standardization and how this can improve data access, maintain data integrity, and support decision-making. Stop by to grab a copy!

I’ll be at the booth with colleagues Larry Brescio and Sanji Bhal so be sure to say hello. Even if you will not be in Boston, you can receive live updates throughout the conference by following us on Twitter, @ACDLabs, and by using the “#BioIT17” hashtag.
