The ACD/Labs Technical and Scientific Services (TSS) Team is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, customer-centric individual to conduct business analysis (gathering requirements), and demonstrate or describe how ACD/Labs scientific software and solutions can address specific needs within our clients’ workflows. Additional responsibilities will include working on projects, providing technical support, providing input in marketing activities and participating at conferences.


Education: The ideal candidate will have a M.Sc. degree, or higher, in Chemistry (or a related science), preferably with a minimum of 18 months industrial experience. Candidates with a B.Sc. degree with substantial industrial experience will also be considered. Prior knowledge of ACD/Labs software solutions is advantageous, but not required, as full training will be provided.

Analytical/Laboratory skills: Well versed with modern analytical techniques including NMR, MS UV, IR, Raman spectroscopy, chromatography and hyphenated techniques such as GC/MS and LC/MS. Experience in Electronic Notebooks (ELN), Laboratory Informatics Managements Systems (LIMS) or other scientific software systems is an asset.

IT Experience: The candidate should be comfortable with MS Windows® operating systems. Familiarity with scientific software, other operating systems as well as programming languages (Java, Pascal, Visual Basic) or databasing systems (Oracle, PostgreSQL) are highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who enjoys and excels at problem solving, and demonstrates good interpersonal skills. The ability to learn on the job, be self-motivated and have an eye for detail is key.

Language: Strong composition, grammar, and presentation skills.

Travel is mandatory for the completion of some of the above tasks and will constitute approximately 30 to 50% of your work hours.

Degrees in Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or related fields are preferable and knowledge of spectroscopy (NMR, IR, MS), chromatography (LC, GC), physical chemistry and/or biochemistry is highly desirable.
