Dealing with Data Paralysis in Pharmaceutical Process Development

June 17, 2021, 10:00–10:45 AM EDT | 3:00–3:45 PM GMT

This webinar is a rebroadcast. It will include a live question-and-answer after the video is aired.

Technological advances in the probes and sensors used in pharmaceutical process development have meant that process chemists and engineers are managing more data than ever before. This deluge of data has led to "data paralysis", where data management gets in the way of research. This is particularly true when combining analytical outputs with sensor and probe data since instruments are rarely able to directly share information. This means that scientists and engineers must develop workarounds to even analyze experimental results, leading to methods that are time-consuming and vulnerable to human error.

Join Mathew Mulhern (Principal Research Scientist, AbbVie) and Joe DiMartino (Luminata Solution Manager, ACD/Labs) as they discuss:

  • How advances in sensor technology have led to a deluge of data
  • Shortcomings of current workflows and visualization methods
  • How a collaborative information management tool resolves "data paralysis"
  • Demonstration of process and analytical data integration using Luminata

Presenters

Mathew Mulhern

Mathew Mulhern is a Principal Research Scientist in AbbVie's Process Research and Development organization. He joined AbbVie in 2001 as a Discovery chemist before transferring to Process chemistry in 2007.

Joe DiMartino

Joe DiMartino (Solution Area Manager, Luminata) oversees ACD/Labs' CMC decision support solution, Luminata. He has been with ACD/Labs for 13 years, and this role also benefits from his previous experience, where he worked as an Associate Chemist at Apotex Pharmachem Inc., designing safe and commercially competitive laboratory procedures for pharmaceuticals.
