Carbocyclic and Heterocyclic Ketones Rule C-316

316.1 (Alternative to Rules C-314.1 and C-315.1) - Heterocyclic and di- and poly-carbocyclic ketones may also be named by means of the prefix "oxo-" with the hydrogenation indicated by hydro prefixes; in this case the hydrogenation is considered to have occurred before the introduction of the keto group.

316.2 - The prefix "oxo-" is used when another group having priority for citation as principal group is also present.
