Hydrazines and Their Derivatives

Rule C-922

922.1 - Compounds RCH=N-NH2 and are named (a) by placing the word "hydrazone" after the name of the corresponding aldehyde or ketone, or (b) by means of a prefix "hydrazono-" before the name of the compound CH3R or if this compound has also a substituent to be cited as principal group. Generically these compounds are called "hydrazones".

Examples to Rule C-922.1

922.2 - Compounds X=N-NHR or are named by one of the following methods: (a) as substituted hydrazones if no other group is present having priority for citation as principal group; (b) as hydrazino derivatives of the compound RH, substituted by a bivalent radical =X, if the group R has. a substituent having priority for citation as principal group; or (c) as substituted hydrazono derivatives of the compound XH2 if the group X has a substituent having priority for citation as principal group.
