Users' Guide Lottery Winner 2001
| TORONTO, January 14, 2002 - ACD/Labs announces the winner of the 2001 Users' Guide Lottery, drawn from all respondents to our guide questionnaire. |
Leonard Houser II, a California high school teacher, downloaded the ACD/ChemSketch freeware program and corresponding user guide for use in preparing lessons for his AP Chemistry class. After completing our Users' Guide questionnaire his entry was selected at random from all respondents to receive a stand-alone copy of ACD/ChemFolder. This program creates chemically intelligent databases with structures, text-input, and user-definable search fields. It also incorporates the full drawing capability of ACD/ChemSketch and the full look-up tables of ACD/Dictionary. Many free databases for use with ACD/ChemFolder are available for download here.
Mr. Houser informed us that he had his students use "ChemSketch rather than models" in their classes, particularly while studying VESPR, because it allowed them "to manipulate and visualize the 3D nature of the structures while using technology to expand those capabilities". He is certain that ACD/ChemFolder will now enhance the capabilities of ACD/ChemSketch for his students.
