Joel R. Garbow:
- Recognized international expert in solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
- 20+ years in NMR spectroscopy, including 16 years of industrial experience at Monsanto Company (St. Louis, MO).
- Recently joined the staff of the Biomedical NMR Laboratory, School of Medicine, Washington University (St. Louis, MO)
- 50+ publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Recognized problem solver, who works well in a team-based environment.
- Responsible for three-channel, solid-state NMR spectrometer (1H resonance frequency = 127 MHz) sited at Washington University. Instrument is available for contract work, including applications support and collaborative research.
- Experienced in solid-state NMR characterization of polymorphic solids, macromolecules, biopolymers, biodegradable polymers, pharmaceutical and agricultural formulations, peptides and proteins.
- Skilled in the use of stable isotope labeling, together with NMR detection, to study metabolism and to characterize molecular structure and dynamics.
- Problem solving and characterization using a complete suite of double- and triple-resonance magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR experiments, including cross-polarization MAS (CPMAS), lab- and rotating-frame relaxation (T1, T1r), and rotational-echo double-resonance (REDOR).
