ACD/Labs Software Release 2012: FAQ
In our Release Version 2012 (v2012), there have been significant changes to many of our popular products. Many products have received new functionality
updates; while several major product groups have been rebuilt on new platforms, and the old product lines have been discontinued.
Product groups that have undergone a major revision are:
| Old Product Line |
New Product Platform |
| ACD/SpecManager Product Line |
ACD/Spectrus Platform; including processing and knowledge management products |
| PhysChem and ADMET Product Line |
ACD/Percepta Platform |
I am familiar with the ACD/Labs Old product line. Which New product should I choose?
In our view, each of the new products in either the ACD/Spectrus or ACD/Percepta platforms brings additional value as compared to the previously available products.
However, as functionalities have been rearranged between the products, there may not be a one-to-one match between products and we have sometimes recommended
several new products as possible migration alternatives. Notably, we have introduced a much requested additional layer of products aimed for
broader groups of chemists working in the areas of organic synthesis, production, and medicinal chemistry—
ACD/Spectrus Processor and ACD/Labs Percepta Profilers.
I have maintenance with ACD/Labs; does it entitle me to receive a new Spectrus or Percepta product?
As mentioned in our legal agreements (shrinkwrap, master license agreement, and maintenance agreement), our maintenance service entitles our users to upgrades for the
same product(s) that they have licensed, but does not entitle our users to receive a separate, new product in place of a discontinued one. However, we will continue maintaining the previously purchased products as per our
Software Life-Cycle Policy and discontinued products can be maintained until they are retired (on the 'End of Technical Support' date). In addition,
our Account Managers and business partners are instructed to offer a migration path from the old product line (discontinued or not) to the new product line in a manner
beneficial to our valued customers.
For customers currently on maintenance, some migration paths may be offered without any additional expense above the cost of the regular maintenance plan, dependent on the product.
Please be sure to inquire, we are certain that you will be pleased with the options available to you though the product migration.
Please contact us if you have additional questions.
