ACD/3D Viewer

ACD/3D Viewer interface. Generate 3D representations of chemcial compounds

Convert two-dimensional
structures from
ACD/ChemSketch into
their three-dimensional
counterparts and view,
measure, and "handle"
them in virtual 3D.

Go from a publication-quality sketch to an attractive three-dimensional structure with the click of a button!

And then, for a really stunning effect, one more click of a button will set Auto-rotate in motion, and allow you to save the animated GIF file to insert into a presentation or Web site!

As every chemist knows, the stick diagram is good for designating atom-to-atom connections, but it leaves much to be desired when it comes to describing the space-filling aspect of a molecule. This can leave molecular designers, who want to know how the shape of a functional group "fits" into another structure, somewhat frustrated. The chemistry community has thus reacted warmly to the addition of ACD/3D Viewer to the ChemSketch software package to convert two-dimensional sketches into their three-dimensional forms.

The need for this sort of information goes beyond just having a nice presentation. Whether it is zeolite cages or enzyme lock-and-key hypotheses, three-dimensional pictures are very important to a chemist's concept of molecular interactions.
