Data is to scientists as a saucepan is to chefs: essential. But with many analytical techniques, instruments, and software applications, extracting real insights from data can be challenging. Read more about how browser-based systems are revolutionizing analytical data processing.

Okpekon et al isolated an unusual new indanone from the shrub Uvaria afzelii Scot Elliot, grown in the West African sub-region, named afzeliindanone. The molecular formula is C16H14O3.

ACD/Labs is partnering with TetraScience, the Scientific Data Cloud company, to help pharmaceutical companies increase scientific data effectiveness. We invited Simon Meffan-Main, Ph.D., and Alan Millar, Ph.D., Vice Presidents, Tetra Partner Network, TetraScience, to share some insights on cloud computing in the pharmaceutical industry.

A new bicoumarin derivative, bidysoxyletine, (with a molecular formula of C36H40O6) was isolated from the leaves of Dysoxylum parasiticum (Osbeck) Kosterm.

A series of new phenazines were isolated and their structures elucidated; one of these compounds was Dermacozine O, with a molecular formula of C23H15O4N3.

The analysis of C. rotalaria extracts by UHPLC-MS in conjunction with database searching led to the isolation and structure elucidation of a series of new taurine-conjugated anthraquinones, including Comatulin A, molecular formula C20H19NO10S.

Interpreting the pattern of lines on a mass spectrum may feel overwhelming at first glance. However, with a little background knowledge of the theory behind mass spectrometry techniques, you can begin to recognize what to look for in your mass spectrum and obtain the information you need. Read more about how ACD/Labs analytical data processing tools can help.
